2/20/2024 0 Comments Dewalt 20 volt battery kitI used it in almost every Dewalt tool I own and it was so impressive. I really like the fuel gauge as well, the white lights make it easy to check the charge level, even in bright daylight. It has a nice rubber overmold on the bottom to prevent scratching surfaces if you have to set a tool down. I have been using the smaller Powerstack batteries for a while now, so I was very excited to try this one and it did not disappoint! The battery case size is similar to the 3aH batteries with the 21700 cells. I think it's a good replacement for the XR's, and I'm looking forward to buying more. The 5ah Powerstack is a little shorter than the old 5ah XR, it runs for ages, and it's got the flatter rubber bottom. I think would as easily surpass the 6ah XR as well. I haven't been in a position to run a head to head comparison against a new 5ah XR but I'm confident the 5ah Powerstack would well exceed the XR. This battery goes for ages and it feels like it has more punch with each trigger pull. I had expected it would be a smaller form factor, like the 1.7ah is, but I'm not complaining. It's a little wider and a little shorter and it's actually heavier than its predecessor. I was surprised to see the 5ah Powerstack in person as it's similar in size to the old 5ah XR battery. I also have a few 6ah and a handful of big FlexVolt batteries but I consider the 5ah XR to be the standard. I've bought many 5ah XR batteries, and I've gotten a load of smaller ones free with tools. As a result I have dozens of 20v batteries. I'm a carpenter and I use DeWalt portable power tools almost exclusively.
